THIS AFTERNOON AFTER 7 1/2 WEEKS OUT OF SERVICE FOR MAINTENANCE AND LADDER TESTING THE LADDER IS FINALLY BACK HOME AND BACK IN SERVICE. WITH ALL THE CYLINDERS THAT REQUIRED ATTENTION WERE REBUILT AND A PAIR OF NEW LADDER SLIDE BLOCKS INSTALLED ON THE LADDER.

SATURDAY MEMBERS GOT T-439 READY FOR THE COMING SNOW PLOWING SEASON. THE SKID UNIT AND GRASS FIRE EQUIPMENT WERE REMOVED AND THE 9' FISHER SNOWPLOW WAS ATTACHED. WITH A TOP OFF OF FLUIDS IN THE PLOW HYD PUMP SYSTEM AND A NEW CUTTING EDGE THE TRUCK IS READY TO TACKLE ANOTHER SEASON OF SNOW.

LADDER 429 WAS SENT OUT TO GLICK FIRE EQUIPMENT NORTH OF PITTSBURGH FOR ITS ANNUAL LADDER SERVICE TEST AND LADDER MAINTENANCE. THE TRUCK WILL ALSO HAVE AN ANNUAL SERVICE FOR THE FOLDING STEPS ON THE QUANTUM CHASSIS PERFORMED WHILE THERE AS WELL AS SOME OTHER MINOR MAINTENANCE ISSUES.
THE LAST 2 DAYS HAVE BEEN VERY BUSY FOR CHIEF HAYFORD AND PRESIDENT SPAULDING, SPENDING A LARGE PORTION OF EACH DAY MEETING WITH THE CONSULTANT HIRED BY THE TOWNSHIP TO EVALUATE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND AMBULANCE SERVICE.

KRYSTAL BERDIS, A FIREFIGHTER / EMT AND THE SECRETARY FOR BOTH THE RELIEF ASSOCIATION AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS, TURNED IN A RESIGNATION LETTER STATING THAT WITH HER JOB AND RECENT ENGAGEMENT SHE WILL NO LONGER HAV...
A SET OF NEW PARATECH HIGH LIFT MEDIUM PRESSURE AIR LIFTING BAGS WERE PLACED IN SERVICE LAST NIGHT. THESE NEW BAGS WERE PURCHASED WITH FUNDS FROM THE 2010 FEMA GRANT. WE CHOSE PARATECH DUE TO THE FAMILIARITY WITH THEIR OTHER PRODUCTS AND THE NEEDS FOR OUR AREA.
FINAL AERIAL OPERATION PRO-BOARD TESTING WAS COMPLETED YESTERDAY BY MEMBERS OF PERRY HI-WAY AS WELL AS BROOKSIDE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE DRIVING PORTION AS WELL AS TRUCK PRE-USE INSPECTION WERE COMPLETED WITH AN EVALUATOR FROM THE STATE FIRE ACADEMY PRESENT FOR THE EVALUATION.
